arenanet is trying to be fair to everyone....
pre-order items are not "the ultimate weapons" either.

lets even take a look at expansions....
people who spent "extra cash" on expansions will not be able to overpower people without expansions.
thus remain competitive and fair for every guildwars' family.

im satisfy with special emote...."plus" headset, artbook(i think i heard this artbooks will be "autographed" by arenanet team too... ) and music cd.

i do have one question though....
is collectors edition also means limited edition? like only have certain number of copies in the whole world..... just curious

im speculating that the look of the aura could resemble:
(if anyone knows what Shaman king is)
"a (god)spirit-like that rises above you, (makes you both)glowing and does an awe-inspiring pose of some sort...." (Which then, after the instance it rises out of the character, a lot of "print screens" would have been pressed by those who witnessed the moment. )

sry. from the early descriptions and the update info on it, images just popped out of my mind, and was just imagining the aura. i.e. each character class will have a diff aura from a dspecific god? (something like that. hehe)

cheers.

The aura has always been described as some sort of cosmetic effect. Anyone who purchased the CE because they thought it gave them any sort of edge at all needs to read more carefully.

yup. they clearly said it was for "show"...

if they said it was gonna be like a "shield defense", im pretty sure evryone would be getting the CE.

again. its description/main purpose was for a character's looks.

And probably very annoying as well if it was on all the time. Imagine party members having that aura on all the time and you being unable to see the mobs and such because of an aura blocks your view. Leave it as is I say.

that would be quite funny. ppl would start complaining about. "why is the aura on all the time, now no one wants to party up with me." the aura would start being a deterant/ scaring ppl away instead of it getting ppl impressed at you and catching positive attention/looks.

-o.how the hilarity would ensue...

All this speculation about the Bow and the Aura (they never mention the Headset and book)..most of you are second guessing..all will be revealed on the 28th., then the whiners can whine !

I don't think the reason to buy the collector's edition is all about getting the Aura. (although, I'd pay extra just for it) The arguement on whether or not to buy the CE that's been running through this thread based soley upon the fact that the Aura is an emote and not an item is rather dumb. How about all the other stuff huh? Be happy, that they're giving a little extra something in-game along with the sound track, art book, and headset.

well.
the original poster wanted to discuss the aura and get ppl's thoughts on it. and no one really has any problems on the other stuff and their basically normal/extra merchandise (artbook/mic/etc.).

again like dr. wu says. all will be revealed on the 28th..

i am amazed that people would pay an extra 30$-40$ depending on where they ordered from just to get the divine aura, i pre-ordered the CE because I think the art in GW is simply amazing. The teamspeak server was also a big influence because I am the leader of a guild and i needed a way to communicate with them. The mike isn't a big deal cuz i already have one but its just an extra bonus like the divine aura. The divine aura wasn't made so that u would buy it it was made as like a gift to those who did buy the CE like a added bonus. I think however the Divine Aura ends up it will be good because its just an added bonus anyway and if its bad so what. I know some people bought the CE just for it but that wasn't too smart anyway, escpecially since they hadn't seen it or heard much about it. For me as far as appeal or why i bought it it went in this order TS Server-Artbook-Soundtrack-Mike-Divine Aura-

I pre-paid for the CE not to long ago... but I mainly wanted the "Art Book" and CD... The Divine Aura was very nice bonus, and I also hope that it is something that you can turn on and off with emotes... I’m sure it will look cool though, everything so far looks amazing, I don’t think this will be any different!

I guess we will all know in a couple days!

Thank you Starsky.
While I did post this because I'm not the biggest fan on emotes I mainly wanted to see how many people wanted it to be an item with a minor benefit, and in turn see how many wanted an emote. This is just a minor test of faith for me and I'm sure the divine aura will be amazing like everything else the developers have done for such a great game.

I'm fine with it being an emote, my inventory was always full...

I bought the CE only because I really enjoy the game. I am a polite emoter. I bow to my teamates, they deserve respect, as they may be the ones saving my hide out there in the wilds, and I use the wave now and again. I have a feeling that this Divine Aura will be a random thing. You may not expect it to happen and then it just will. It was worded as favor from the Gods. I belive that if you earn the favor then the favor will come, as with Gods "unbidden and unexpected". At least I hope it will not turn into "Aura Spam".

IMHO, the aura will be an effect that lasts from when you turn it on to when you turn it off. /aura and you get a crazy light show, everybody claps and then you turn it off if you want with another /aura. If you dont, you then walk around glowing like rudolf the red nosed reindeer. This is just my opinion but its what I would do if I was ANet because people could choose what they wanted to use the aura for and ANet has always been about giving the players choice.

I think I like the idea of Toggle it on and off. I'm not even sure if I want the divine aura with the idea of it being an emote.

lol at thinking people wouldn't spend 30 bucks to attention RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO.

Personally I think none of those auras or pre-order items should ever have been included. What's the point of the aura? Wow look at me I spent twice the money for one account? Or hey, look at ME I glow, I'm special, give me attention!!!!. It's just an ingame status crap that really nobody needs.

Secondly, the pre-order item can't be anything good since that would be unfair to people who simply didn't/couldn't preorder, and it will disappoint those who preordered because it's not some 'uber' item they can use to own everyone in pvp at level 20.

not getting it, though I would like the artbook. The Aura, although as an emote, it seems nice (would be disgusting if it were constant), i don't need really. The item, meh, neither.
